Hitchin is a popular market town of considerable charm and character. Rich in medievel and georgian buildings it's original street pattern still remains to this day containing buildings and pubs of historic interest and old world grace. Hitchin Swimming pool is a public indoor and outdoor swimming pool 5 minutes walk from the hotel providing a modern 25m x 17m deck level main pool and a warmer toddler's pool. A 50m heated outdoor pool with a learner pool and sun terrace is open from May to September.

St Mary's Church is a focal point of the town and was founded in 792.
